The man I am married to is a Narcissistic Sociopath in every sense of the description. About a year ago I was finally able to leave him it lasted a few months and I had to return home because he made my life so miserable and with my position in Law Enforcement as well as his I did not want to be embarrassed in front of the community I serve. When I moved home he immediately sold everything out of my apartment so I could not leave again he promised he would change, he would see a councilor, and he would never hurt me again. The 1st year was not that bad until I got pregnant then he knew I was stuck and the real him shined through. He has told lies around town of me cheating on him because I found where he had been seeing 3 other women. He is a pathological liar and uses his charm to get what he wants.

Psychology Today via Mayo Clinic Charm and gregariousness are their top traits According to Dr Lishman, a sociopath is a person who may be diagnosed with an anti-social personality disorder and is someone who can harm others unconsciously — often with no remorse. Incessant flattery and compliments tend to be among their arsenal of skills and they will often know just what to say in order to get a person to like them.
They have little regard for your feelings A sociopath may be quite charming at the beginning of a relationship and those that have high empathy are often attracted to them, Dr Lishman explained. This can be very confusing for those on the receiving end. While this can take the form of blatant, outrageous lies, on a lesser scale this may appear as a tendency to be untruthful or insincere. It is difficult to treat this disorder because people with ASPD rarely seek treatment, as they do not think that there is anything wrong with the way they behave.
When treatment is given, it is usually when individuals have entered the Corrective Services System and are forced to participate in treatment. No medication is known to be helpful in the treatment of this disorder. However, some medication might be useful in order to manage some of the symptoms. Even once a relationship has ended the twisted dynamics that are associated with narcissists and sociopaths will likely continue and they are not always easy to understand. It can be impossible to see if the abuse will come to an end or if the conflict will ever resolve. The most essential thing to remember when involved with someone with a personality disorder is that to them other people are a major source of energy. If we imagine that we have an electrical cable that is connected to our core we can see how an abuser will plug in the feed to their core and drain every drop of fuel until we are empty.
If we do not offer them the connection, they will have no use for us and will look for the source of energy elsewhere. Sadly abusers are all too often highly addicted to drama. If we react dramatically our energy levels go into overdrive. Even though the energy we are sending out is negative, it is still going to feed them. The end result is that we are left exhausted, debilitated and drained—the abuser is nourished. It is that simple. When we refuse to role-play the abuser eventually has no choice but to end the role they play too.
As a result, hundreds of women contacted me claiming they, too, were victims. But let me tell you about Cameron. He was a typical sociopath: His guise lasted for ten years until the sham crumbled and I realised I had married a monster.

The empath becomes an object of abuse when the apath corroborates the sociopath’s perspective.
I met a guy over the Internet about a year ago, and we grew to be very close friends. We later decided we wanted to be together, and exchanged pictures, personal information, talked on the phone, etc. Late last year, our relationship began being strained, but things were fine when I flew to meet him over Christmas and stayed with him then. However…I do love him and even though we are not technically together now, I am hoping we will get back together. He is feeling increasingly detached from things in general lately, and that worries me, because I -know- he is capable of emotion, despite his sociopathic tendencies.
I was wondering if you had any suggestions for ways I can help him to break through whatever is blocking his emotions?
